Fuel is one of the most important commodities of life today. We need fuel for a number of activities, especially for transportation purpose. An affordable price of fuel should be encouraged so as to maintain the balance between the consumption and purchase of the fuel. Petrol and diesel prices have been increasing frequently ever since the pandemic occurred in India. With the latest hike, petrol has already crossed ₹100 mark in 11 states and union territories. Fuel Prices were hiked for the fourteenth time this month to take petrol above the ₹100-mark in a total of seven state capitals. The hike in prices is mainly due to the increase in international crude oil price according to the Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The need of the hour should be in favour of the poor and needy who is unable to meet the basic requirements of life. Fuel prices should be subsidized, at least till the pandemic ends. This could boost the economic activity in the country and create growth. Therefore, government should act towards this issue and regulate the prices of fuel efficiently.
