RIP Milkha Singh







 The Flying Sikh also known as Milkha Singh was introduced to sports while working for the Indian Army. He was born on 20th November 1929.He was an Indian track and field sprinter. The only athlete to win a gold medal in both Asian Games and Commonwealth Games is Milkha Singh. He also wrote a book called “The race of my life” 

After a month’s long battle with covid, Milkha Singh dies at the age of 91 on 18th June 2021 in Chandigarh. He was first tested covid 19 positive on May 19th but was kept in home isolation because he as asymptomatic. But a few days later, he shifted to an ICU hospital due to covid pneumonia on June 3rd.  Milkha Singh dies 5 days after his wife Nirmal Kaur died due to covid complications.

The Prime Minister, sportspersons and several other politicians paid their tribute to the Rome Olympian 1960 and Commonwealth Games Champion 1958, Milkha Singh whose beautiful and inspiring work will still live on.
