Malnutrition
Malnutrition is a state of the human body when the body doesn’t get enough nutrition. India has a higher rate of malnutrition, because for many reasons which may include poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, wrong lifestyle, etc.
Causes of Malnutrition
1. Nil balanced diet:- Nowadays people don’t have healthy food intake habits. They are no longer connected with balanced diets. Balanced diet work as a cleaner for our body which cleans all the junk we have taken. But people are no longer taking balanced diets, which has caused a lot of new diseases including Malnutrition.
2. Busy lifestyle:- A busy lifestyle becomes a boon when we don’t take care of health with work. People are working day and night and they don’t have enough time to even eat well. They can eat whatever they want to, but that may not include enough nutrients. Thus, this may result in malnutrition.
3. Consumption of alcohol:- When we are consuming a lot of alcohol, it may damage our digestive systems which may lead to malnutrition in the body. Also, alcohol contains calories, which may reduce hunger, thus, this leads to malnutrition when happened on regular basis.
4. Mental health conditions:- When a person is suffering from mental health disorders, they may not eat enough which may give them enough nutrition, which generally leads to malnutrition at the end, when the eating habits of a person are irregular.
Treatment
1. Enough nutrients:- Consuming enough nutrients may help in treating malnutrition.
2. Balanced diet:- Having a balanced diet that includes iron, calcium, nutrients, vitamins would be best to treat malnutrition.
3. Government interference:- If the government could make some policies to prevent malnutrition.
4. Healthcare agencies:- If health care agencies could make proper working on the treatment of malnutrition.
5. Mid-day meals for schools:- Government should provide mid-day meals in schools so that students have a healthy body and mind.
Conclusion
Malnutrition refers to overnutrition and undernutrition. Undernourished people may experience weight loss, fatigue, and mood changes or develop vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Overnutrition can lead to overweight, obesity, and inadequate micronutrient intakes and deficiencies. Both types can lead to health issues if not addressed.
