RIGHTS OF FARMERS
Farmers are the food bearers of the nation. They are the ones who sweat and toil for our food. Farmers are the backbone of the nation. We all have healthy food by means of farmers. They provide food for people all over the world.
They have the right to buy and cultivate seeds and plants of different breeds for the welfare of the nation.
They have all the rights to farm and cultivate in their lands. It is their will to do so.
The government has passed so many acts and laws for the protection of farmers and their welfare.
Many farmers whose farming and cultivation don't provide adequate facilities, end up their own lives and the lives of their families. This is because of the poverty that prevails in the family. This may also happen if the farmer does not get adequate crops to cultivate or the fertilizers and manures to maintain a healthy crop or maybe due to lack of proper facilities. It is the duty of the nation to look after the ones who provide food for the whole nation.
The farmers also have the right to grab and enjoy all the facilities given exclusively for them by the Government.
Many farmers try to obtain their rights through protest. Currently, the farmers protested against the three farm acts by The Parliament of India in September 2020.
There were almost 40,000 people who involved themselves in the protest in Delhi.
They wanted the government to recall the three farm act and they also insisted upon a minimum support price.
Such protest also ends up in extremities like suicide and dharna.
The three farm act has its own benefits and drawbacks.
It supported the farmers with unrestricted access to trade. But it also led to compelling the farmers to sell their crops to corporate companies at a low price.
Though there are so many rights for farmers still we find cases of misery and death. So the government has to take the necessary steps to provide the necessary rights and needs to the farmers.
A farmer is the most respected man in society. It is our responsibility to ensure the respectable position of farmers.
Even the commoners sometimes look down on such farmers for their low income or living standard. There is no need for any farmer to feel shy about his profession or look upon other people. A farmer is doing the job of feeding millions of people whose faces are unknown. It is a pride to take up such a job. So every farmer can boast about himself for indulging in such a profession. It is his free will and right to do so.
