SOCIAL MEDIA AND BULLYING
Social media is any technology that has the facility to share our thoughts, ideas, and information through virtual networks and communities.
But there is a danger of cyberbullying or cyberharassment through these networks.
Such harassments are more common among teenagers as they are more acquainted with the technology.
People may spread vicious rumors about any individual through social media platforms, which can make him or she become depressed and frustrated.
WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW?
1. The internet makes bullying easy.
2. Some people are more likely to be targeted.
3. Being cyberbullied has serious effects.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Ignore the bully.
Be proactive.
IGNORE THE BULLY
The primary goal of the bully is to make their targets lose their cool. When they lose their cool they are overpowered by the bully.
Sometimes the best response is no response. Don't add fuel to the fire.
BE PROACTIVE
You can do something to stop the bullying without making the situation worse.
1. You can block the person who is sending the messages.
2. Save all evidence even if you don't read it.
3. Tell the cyberbully to stop.
4. Build your self-confidence.
5. Tell an adult.
a) You must block the person who is sending the message. What you don't read can't hurt you.
b) Save the aggressive text messages, instant messages, email, posts, voice messages, or any type of communication.
c) Send a nonemotional message to the cyberbully to stop.
d) Build your self-confidence and focus on your strength rather than weakness.
e) Tell an adult. Tell your parents or police or legal advisor.

Try an unexpected response

Work in your self-confidence
Tell someone
a) If you remain as calm as possible, those bullies will lose interest in you.
b) Seeking revenge only makes the situation worse.
c) Avoid people/messages who/which could cause trouble and avoid situations where bullying may occur.
d) Silence shows your maturity.
Have self-control.
e) Speak up to someone to prevent someone else from being bullied.
REMEMBER
With just a few keystrokes on a computer, you can ruin a person's reputation or life.
TIPS
1. Look for signs of harassment.
2. Look for signs of public online humiliation.
3. Look for signs of impersonation.
4. Ask the bully to stop.
5. Don't respond.
6. Save the evidence.
7. Block the bully
8. Tell an adult
9. Report to service providers and social media platforms.
10. Contact law enforcement.
Thus, you can be safe from cyberbullying!!
