Human Trafficking
Human trafficking in general sense means trade of humans for the purpose of selling, sexual trade, slavery, and for many other purposes. Human trafficking has been the most common in UK, California, New York and in India too. Thus, Human trafficking is a global problem.
Types of Human trafficking prevalent in India:
1. Women trafficking : Women are generally sold for the purpose of forced prostitution, pornography and forced sex services in India. Not only women but young girls (between 14-16 years of age) are also forced to join prostitution by family members, because of various personal reasons. Sometimes, women in romantic relationships are blackmailed to join prostitution by their so-called partner.
2. Forced labour : Forced labour is one of the most common form of human trafficking. Forced labour mostly contains children who are orphan, who have no guardian, whose guardian has abandoned them. Usually, they cut off children’s limbs and ask them to beg and then all that those children get from begging, they distribute that amount. Children are sometimes badly beaten in this process of forced labour.
3. Sex slavery : Sex slavery may include any of gender, adults or children. Women and young girls are raped in name of sex slavery and sometimes men too are sexually harassed in all this.
4. Organ trafficking : This is whole new kind of trafficking which has plagued the world. Child, women, men, adults all are getting caught deep into this swamp. And main reason of this kind of trafficking is greed of those greedy doctors and surgeons who sometimes, forget about the oath they took before start practicing, this may give them a lot of money but also take up lives of many innocents.
Laws related to Human trafficking in India :
• Human trafficking is prohibited under Constitution of India under Article 23(1).
• The immortal traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 :- the act defines child as any person who has completed eighteen years of age. The first section of the act has provisions that outline the illegality of prostitution and the punishment for owning a brothel or a similar establishment, or for living of earnings of prostitution as in case of prostitution of a pimp.
Human Trafficking has been a bane to our society from a very long period of time. We have lost a lot of lives because of this curse, thus, we have also done a lot to eradicate such kind of evils from our society. And in future we are hoping for a life where one human never sold another human for the purpose of slavery, labour, prostitution, sexual harassment etc.
