ADOPTION

Adoption is the emotional, social, and legal process by which kids who will not be nurtured by their biological parents become complete and constant legal members with another home while retaining genetic and psychological ties to their original parents.

Modern adoption laws and procedures are intended to improve child welfare and are viewed as an essential component of state action to preserve the concerns of the youth.

In India, the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) is a legal organisation of the ministry that serves as the adoption nodal agency and is responsible for monitoring and regulating in-country and cross adoptions.

CARA regulates the adoption of orphaned (parents have died), abandoned (parents have deserted), and surrendered (parents have legally given up custody) children through its affiliated or authorized adoption agency

In order to adopt a child in India, a Prospective Adoptive Parent (PAP) must first upload their adoption application and supporting papers to CARA's website
