PATRIARCHY
Patriarchy has always been a leech to society. Well, we can say that it’s the root cause of all the gender based issues. In general sense, patriarchy means a social system where men are the one and only head of the family. They control women and the whole family.
Nowadays, Patriarchy has become an emotion for women. It doesn’t mean that men's opinion shouldn't even matter in society, but one must learn the difference between democracy and dictatorship. Men have become dictators in today's society.
So, if you don't know what ideology exists in patriarchal society, let me tell you. "Women are meant only for KITCHEN WORK, if they are working, their WORK WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IMPORTANT."
Don't you agree!?
From 9 year old girl child to 22 year old young woman, all women are suffering under the heavy burden of patriarchal society. What do you think? Won't this damage the mind of a 6 year old girl who can't play with her friends outside, or of a 19 year old girl who can't choose her further studies?
A decision taken by a girl or a woman or any individual should solely depend upon themselves. It's her personal right to take her own decision, as a parent, sister or as an individual. You should just advise them, rather than ordering.
Girls can't do the last rites to their father's bier, because it's the right of a son as prescribed by The Hindu religion.
Women or girls can't contribute to the daily income of the house, as it will hurt men's pride.
But we also have many great examples in our society, which breaks all the chains and boundaries of women.
Chandro Tomar and Prakshi Tomar are the best fit examples. They are two old ladies who broke the cage of Patriarchy, and had a long flight in the blue sky. They don't need any introduction. They are the women who can win medals after the age of 86. Do they need any kind of introduction?
This is not the mere boundary of patriarchy and its rule from ages ago but, there are even more. If women still hesitate to stand up for their rights then patriarchy will never end.
PATRIARCHY IN TODAY'S WORLD
Talking about present society, patriarchy is not much prevalent now. But if we take states like Rajasthan and U.P, we will be able to see male domination. But as we have many movements arousing related to gender issues and women empowerment we need not worry. Because even a little change is also a change.
